Great Gatsby/1920s party

Such a fun night! A Great Gatsby/1920s inspired birthday party, thrown at home by our favorite, fabulous caterers/event staff. It was so great seeing everyone show up and how into the costumes they all were. I loved the aftermath the next morning-- a floorfull of boa feathers in every color of the rainbow, fedoras scattered around all the tables, jazz music still playing, and mint juleps in the fridge!

My amazing cloche hat cake (no, I did not make this one. I don't enjoy making cakes for myself)
Anna found boas, pearl bracelets, and fedoras the next morning and was in dress-up heaven!

Bondi Beach

(Part of my childfree Sydney weekend) The amazing Bondi Beach was a bit of a flop for my friends as it was pouring rain almost the whole day. However, as we tend to do, we made the most of an undesirable situation, and spent a good part of the day enjoying several cocktails at the beautiful Bondi Icebergs. As you will see in the photos, the stormy weather didn't do much to deter the children's swimming lessons below (and might I say- how extraordinary to do your swimming lessons on the shores of Bondi. The GHS pool and YMCA don't exactly compare:)

19 March 2010

long time, no blog

So much has happened the past month, I don't even know where I would begin catching up. Ive been blissfully, deliriously busy.

Firstly, I was rendered speechless when my dear friend and her dear boyfriend flew all the way from America to surprise me on the eve of my birthday. Totally speechless!

I turned 30. My mom turned 64. My sister-in-law turned 45. My daughter turned 2. And my nephew became a teenager (13).

I was thrown a fabulous, 1920s themed birthday party (& received a most stunning item in a little blue box).

I went to Sydney with my friends, SANS babies (my first night away from them, ever).

My mom (world's best grandma) visited for 2 weeks.

I flew up for my first trip to the real Outback. Experienced a grasshopper plague, wild camels, bees the size of birds, tarantula hills bigger than my feet, man-eating spiders, and of course the ever-mysterious Uluru & Kata Tjuta.

Saw CATS for the first time.

Trekked around every wine region in my state.

Had dinners comprised solely of wine, exquisite cheeses & proscuitto from the fromagerie.

Went to Bells Beach (ever see Point Break? thanks Andy:)

And incidentally amongst it all, became a citizen of another country in a touching ceremony.

Phew! Im exhausted. I'll get some photos up of the highlights later today.
